These are average ages for each level, please understand that placement is also done by ability and properly evaluated by the director and/or staff to assure proper placement and provide the best experience for each student.
Class Descriptions
◆ BALLET/POINTE-Beauty, flow and elegance are inherited in the elements of ballet. Ballet is the classical dance form that can be mastered by itself or used as a technical base or supplement to other dance forms. Classes focus on overall body alignment and awareness with emphasis on proper usage of feet and legs and execution of turnout. Carriage and usage of upper torso and arms are also stressed. Traditional barre work, center work and combinations are included in all classes. For pointe classes students must be at least 11 years old and have been approved by the director.
◆ HIP-HOP- A high-energy class that uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B and pop music together with movements influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers. Hip hop encompasses movement that has elements of poppin', locking, and breaking as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style. Hip hop is urban, it’s street, it’s diverse and forever changing. Please do not wear street shoes into class.
◆ JAZZ-We challenge our students with many different forms of jazz, all high energy but with different styles. These classes are popular with all ages and provide an added benefit of cardiovascular exercise due to the high level of energy exerted. Jazz class is a fun and fast paced mixture of various techniques
◆ LYRICAL- A beautiful dance form implementing, ballet & modern techniques to express lyrics of songs; flowing, graceful, emotional and inspirational. Develop strength & flexibility while acquiring solid dance technique Lyrical dance explores movement, space, rhythm and the dancer’s own creativity with emphasizes on momentum, shapes and patterns. Class will also focus on emoting, musicality, and center work.
◆ TUMBLING- is an activity involving performance of exercises requiring physical strength, flexibility, agility, co-ordination, balance, and grace. In this class you will learn ariels, flips, rolls, etc.
◆ STRETCH & CONDITIONING-This course is designed for dancers, performers, athletes and ordinary persons who would be introduced to principles and techniques of stretch and strengthening. Emphasis is placed on techniques that result in greater muscle length, increased tension release and improved body posture.
◆ FIRST STEPS COMBO-an introduction to Tumbling (somersaults, rolls, jumps, etc). Jazz, Tap and Creative movement. As students practice, they increase balance, coordination, and grace.---
◆ FIRST STEPS BALLET- An introduction to ballet skills, terminology, rhythm, and coordination are taught, practiced, and developed through creative movement, music, and mime in a supportive and supervised environment.
◆ FIRST STEPS TUMBLING: an introduction to Tumbling (somersaults, rolls, jumps, etc).
◆ MOMMY & ME- This is a fun introductory class for young starters. Share precious moments filled with smiles and fun in our class designed especially for the parent /guardian and toddler. Focusing on introductory technique using songs & exercises based on dance and tumbling fundamentals, much like our first steps combo class. Share the moments with your little one!
◆ ADULT CLASSES- Is a fun class, combining many different styles of dance and stretch and strengthening. The styles will vary week to week, learning technique and choreographed combinations. This is a mixed level class welcoming experienced through beginner dancers.
◆ POWER CLASS- This class will focus on strength, control, & flexibility combined with learning jumps, leaps, turns, floor work and partnering. This class is geared to learn and master the “tricks” of various styles of dance.
◆ JUMPS, LEAPS, TURNS- This class will focus on learning and mastering a variety of Jumps, Leaps and turns seen in many different styles of dance.
